Top 25 roundup: Cincinnati upsets San Diego State
The Cincinnati Bearcats upset the No. 19 San Diego State Aztecs 71-62 at Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati on Wednesday.
Guards Troy Caupain and Farad Cobb led the way with 12 points each for the Bearcats, who are a perfect 7-0 at home this season. Forward Gary Clark also contributed 10 points.
Forward Winston Shepard had a game-high 17 points, but the Aztecs were outscored 14-5 in overtime. Guard Trey Kell was the only other San Diego State player in double figures with 11.
Ohio State 97, North Carolina A&T 55
The 12th-ranked Buckeyes dominated the Aggies in front of almost 15,000 people at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Guard D’Angelo Russell led the way with 21 points while guards Marc Loving and Kam Williams added 15 each. Shannon Scott added 12 assists.
Forward Bruce Beckford had 26 points and guard Arturs Bremers 14 for Aggies, whose only win is against a Division III team to open the season. They have also lost their last 16 road games, dating back to Jan. 11.
Michigan State 66, Eastern Michigan 46
The 25th ranked Spartans denied the Eagles from a second-straight upset win at Breslin Center in East Lansing, Mich.
Guards Bryn Forbes and Travis Trice led the way with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Forward Marvin Clark Jr. scored 11 points and forward Matt Costello added 10 for the Spartans.
Eastern Michigan, which beat Michigan last week, got 12 points from guard Raven Lee, and little from anyone else in its second loss of the season.
