The Los Angeles Lakers have lost their last two games by a combined 70 points
Through 22 games in the 2024-25 season, the Lakers are 12-10. The team has lost two games in a row by a combined 70 points. Los Angeles is also 4-6 in their last 10 played. This offseason, the team parted ways with former head coach Darvin Ham after two winning seasons.
To replace him, the Lakers hired former NBA player and ESPN game analyst, J.J. Redick. He came into the Lakers game with zero coaching experience at the collegiate or pro level. After a 41-point loss to the Heat on Wednesday night, Redick spoke to reporters and said everyone on the team in “embarrassed” with their performance. The Lakers have now lost by a combined 70 points in their last two games and need to hit a serious reset.

Something is not right with the Los Angeles Lakers. They’ve lost their last two games by a combined 70 points. That includes a 134-93 loss to the Heat on Wednesday night. On Monday, the Lakers were on the road and lost 109-80 to the Timberwolves. A major factor why the Lakers have not played well in their last two games is the lack of production from Anthony Davis. LeBron James is 39 and will turn 40 this month. He’s taken a slight step back this season in his consistency and Davis has been the Lakers’ best plater.
The big man is averaging (26.9) points, (11.3) rebounds, (3.4) assists, (1.2) steals, and (1,9) blocks per game. That is far and away the most production of any Laker in 2024-25. However, Davis has struggled big-time in the team’s last two games. Davis had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists in Monday’s loss to Minnesota. On Wednesday, he followed that up with an even worse performance. He had eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists in a 134-93 loss. Davis is the best player on the Lakers’ roster and they cannot afford to have him play at this level. This is a small slump for the all-star PF who will be eager to play well on Friday vs. the Hawks.
