Stauskas denies he’s NBA-bound; Horford to transfer

Michigan guard Nik Stauskas denied an ESPN report that he will turn pro.

Stauskas and his father, Paul Stauskas, said nothing is determined.

“I can tell you for a fact he has made no decision,” said Paul Stauskas.

Nik Stauskas said via Twitter that he hasn’t ruled out another season in Ann Arbor.

“Just wanted to reiterate that any reports about my future intenions are FALSE! I have NOT made ANY decisions on my future yet!,” he wrote, saying he woke up to so many missed calls and text message he thought was was “named president.”

Meanwhile, the school announced Thursday that forward Jon Horford will transfer. Horford is on track for his degree in May and would have one year of eligibility remaining as a post-graduate transfer.

“My time at Michigan has been the most beneficial period of my life in terms of athletic development and overall enlightenment,” Horford said. “The bonds created over the last four years are everlasting, and the memories made are truly priceless. As on all journeys, new paths must be taken and intuition must be trusted. I leave Michigan with nothing but love in my heart.”

Horford, the younger brother of Atlanta Hawks forward Al Horford, averaged 3.8 points and 4.2 rebounds during 107 career games with the Wolverines.

“Jon has been an integral part of our many accomplishments over the last four years,” Michigan coach John Beilein. “He brought great enthusiasm, leadership and work ethic to our program. Jon is a wonderful young man, who has a very bright future ahead of him.”

Teammates Glenn Robinson III and Mitch McGary are soon to make their career plans known. Both are expected to enter the NBA, as is Stauskas, the Big Ten player of the year who averaged 17.5 points and led the Wolverines to the Elite Eight.
