Sixers’ Jared McCain wins Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award
Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for October/November.
McCain, who was selected with the 16th overall pick in June’s 2024 NBA Draft, has been nothing but a hit sensation since touching down in Pennsylvania for the Sixers.
The 20-year-old out of Duke is widely known for his bubbly, outgoing personality and strong social media presence which has seen him become a fan favorite across the league – not just in Philly.
McCain became the seventh player in franchise history to win the award and the first 76er since Ben Simmons in March 2018, who also won Rookie of the Year.
According to the best online betting sites, McCain is the odds-on favorite at a best-price -150 to follow in Simmons’ footsteps and get his hands on the prestigious award at the end of the season.
With averages of 16.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in just 25 minutes a night, it’s not hard to see why McCain is the early frontrunner ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers‘ Dalton Knecht.

Star absences have offered McCain the opportunity to step up and thrive
If there is one positive that Sixers fans can take from their disastrous 5-14 start to the season, it’s that McCain looks to have a bright future in this league.
He leads all rookies in points per game and games with at least 20 points (seven) while also recording 30 or more on two occasions, with a career-high 34 against the Cleveland Cavaliers last month.
The youngster also recorded ten assists that night against Cleveland which put him in stellar company alongside Allen Iverson and Simmons as the only Sixers rookies to tally 30 points and double-digit assists in a game.
With the likes of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey missing extended periods with injury, McCain has stepped up when his team needed him most and looks a force to be reckoned with in the coming years.
