Joel Embiid Says He Is Struggling With ‘Depressing’ Knee Injury After Returning In Bulls Win
Joel Embiid’s knee troubles has been one of the most discussed injuries in the league since last year’s playoffs and Philadelphia’s big man is continuing to struggle in 2024.
Knee Injury Depressing For Embiid
Joel Embiid finally made his return to the court on Sunday afternoon, playing against the Bulls in his first appearance since the 20th of November.
Despite his time away from the court, Embiid still looked at home during his first game in December and he led all scores with 31 points in the win over Chicago.
Although he came up big in in the win on Sunday, concerns continued to grow for Embiid who spoke to the media post game about how his knee troubles are effecting him.
“Depressing,” Embiid replied when asked how his recovery has been going. “Just trying to figure it out. There’s no injury. Just between the swelling … we’ve got to get it figured out. That’s it.
“I’ve been saying it for the last few months. It’s been extremely depressing. It’s something that hasn’t been figured out, and it’s been extremely annoying, because I would love to play every single game.”
His appearance in Chicago over the weekend was just Embiid’s fifth appearance of the season in what has been a difficult campaign for the 2023 MVP.

Philly’s All-Star Trio Finally Play Together
Philadelphia fans finally got to see Tyrese Maxey, Paul George and Embiid play together on Sunday, with the trio playing just six minutes together before the Bulls win.
Alongside Embiid’s 31 points, Maxey recorded his first career triple double with 25 points and George added 12 of his own in the first real taste of what success could feel like for the new-look Sixers this year.
However the win was just a taste and it feels like that may be all Philadelphia can have this season as they continue to struggle with various injuries to their All-star roster.
With a league break coming up for the NBA Cup to take place, the Sixers play just three games in the next 12 days and they can use this time to slowly bring back the likes of Embiid to more regular game time.
Their win over the Bulls on Sunday pushed Philly up to 12th in the Eastern Conference standings and according to the best online betting sites, they are +1800 to win the Eastern Conference and -180 to make the playoffs.
