As the death toll reaches 5000 people ever since Hamas started a war against Israel on October 7, many celebrities have carefully addressed the complicated situation in the Middle East. This includes some NBA athletes, who preferred to prevent talking politics and sympathize with the victims.

Before taking any questions this weekend, Draymond Green discussed the delicate disputation between both territories and remained non-partisan. “It’s important because so many people are sitting quiet on it,” he said. “A lot of people sit quiet because they don’t want to get into the politics of things.”

The whole world is watching a crisis unfold that has teared families apart, with 2000 out of the 5087 dead have been children.

The 33-year-old then addressed the reasons why most people don’t want to weigh into the conflict because they don’t want to get into trouble. According to theย four-time NBA champion, there is a respectful way to convey your thoughts on the matter.

“A lot of people sit quiet because they don’t want to get themselves in trouble, whatever ‘trouble’ means. Believe or not, a lot of people sit quiet because there’s not much compassion left in this country,” Draymond explained.

The Warriors star then said that it is easier for him to show compassion for this situation, because he has also suffered a lot because of his skin color.ย “I’m a black man. I know how it feels to get f*cked over. So, I sympathize with them,” Green expressed.

The war began over two weeks ago when Hamas, a Palestinian organization that is considered a terrorist group by the United States, fired around 5000 rockets into Israel and then made a surprise attack on villages to massacre the communities close to Gaza.

As Hamas took 200 hostages with them back to their territory, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu declared a state of emergency before retaliating with their army. After bomb shelling their opponents, the Gaza Strip has been drowning in a humanitarian crisis.
