Celtics’ Jaylen Brown set for taunting fine after throat slash gesture vs Pistons
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown is set for a hefty fine after performing a throat slash gesture against the Detroit Pistons.
After posterising Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart in the first quarter of Boston’s 130-120 victory over Detroit on Wednesday, Brown knew exactly what he was doing with the controversial celebration.
The 28-year-old has become famous for his electric dunks and explosive finishing at the rim, willing to take on anyone and everyone who stands in his way – even the biggest and best shot blockers.
When Brown was asked about the gesture in his postgame press conference, he admitted he expects to hear from the league regarding a potential fine in the coming days.
“Oh, yeah. I think the NBA and the PA (Players Association) are sensitive about the gestures, so I gotta be mindful of that.”
As a vice-president of the NBPA, Brown likely knows his fate already but he won’t mind as the demonic throat slash gesture was lapped up by the TD Garden faithful in Massachusetts.

In Jayson Tatum’s absence, Brown stepped up once again
It was another impressive night from Brown in Boston, recording 28 points, six rebounds and a season-high nine assists to give the Celtics an 11th straight victory over the Pistons.
The reigning Finals MVP is 6-1 without Jayson Tatum in the lineup since the start of last season and he became the first player in ten years to have at least 23 points, five assists and three steals in a first half.
The Celtics pushed their record to 18-4 on the season, leaving them just a game back from the Cleveland Cavaliers who occupy both the NBA’s best record and the Eastern Conference’s top spot.
According to the best online betting sites, Boston are the title favorites to become the first back-to-back winners since the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018.
