Cavaliers 109, Kings 99

CLEVELAND — Forward Anthony Bennett recorded his first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 109-99 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night at Quicken Loans Arena.

It was the third consecutive win for the Cavs (19-33), who had five players in double figures, led by forward Luol Deng’s 22 points. Shooting guard Dion Waiters added 20 points and eight assists.

Center DeMarcus Cousins paced the Kings (17-35) with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Isaiah Thomas added 16 points and eight assists for the Kings, who have the worst record in the Western Conference.

The Kings blistered the Cavs on Jan. 12, 124-80. The 44-point loss was the Cavs’ worst of the season.

Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 draft, recorded career highs in both points and rebounds. He made 6 of 9 shots from the field, including 3-for-3 from behind the arc.

Cleveland power forward Tristan Thompson recorded his 23rd double-double of the season with 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Guard Kyrie Irving had 13 points and six assists for the Cavs, who travel to Detroit on Wednesday.

The Cavs were up by 12 points after three quarter, 80-68. Deng had 19 points after three quarters for the Cavs. Thompson had 12 points and 11 rebounds after three quarters.

Four Kings’ reached double figures after three quarters, led by Cousins’ 15 points and eight rebounds. Thomas had 14 points and six assists.

Thompson’s quick start in the third quarter fueled the Cavs’ 12-6 run. He got six points and five rebounds in the first four minutes, which helped the Cavs take a 67-49 lead.

The Cavs took a 55-43 advantage at halftime. They had three players in double figures, led by Bennett and Deng with 11 points apiece. Waiters added 10 points and three assists.

Cousins didn’t score in the second quarter, but had 11 points in the first quarter. Thomas had nine points and four assists at halftime.

The Cavs’ bench has outscored the Kings 27-12 in the first half.

NOTES: Cavaliers C Anderson Varejao (sore back) and G/F C.J. Miles (sore right foot) were held out of the game. Varejao had a MRI on his back on Monday, but that’s not his only ailment. “He has a sore body,” Cavs coach Mike Brown said. The 6-foot-11, 267-pound Varejao is the team’s leading rebounder at 10.3 per game and is its best post defender. “It’s a pretty big blow,” Brown said. “His forte is defending the paint.
