  9. Everygame – Strong all-round betting site with Belmont futures
  10. Betanysports – Reduced juice sportsbook with Belmont Stakes betting

The Belmont Stakes betting sites reviewed on this page are all offshore sportsbooks. That means they can offer fixed-odds futures and pari-mutuel Belmont Stakes betting to anyone in the United States. We have carefully vetted each site, ensuring we only recommend trustworthy, legit Belmont Stakes bookies that pay out on time.

Reviews of the Best Belmont Stakes Betting Sites & Racebooks

The top Belmont Stakes betting sites have different strengths and weaknesses. Check out our reviews of the best racebooks for betting the Belmont Stakes below to determine which one is right for you:

1. BetOnline – The Best Overall Belmont Stakes Betting Site

BetOnline Belmont Stakes betting site & racebook

We rate BetOnline as the best Belmont Stakes betting site this year. It is often one of the first sites to release Belmont betting futures, so you can wager early. BetOnline is a great option for props bettors with a range of these available for the big race. You will also find very competitive fixed-odds on the Belmont at this popular online betting site.

If you are unfamiliar with BetOnline, it has been one of the leading online gambling sites since the 1990s. There is an online sportsbook, casino, live casino, poker room, and eSports hub alongside the racebook. If you delve into the racebook on the day of the Belmont Stakes 2023, you will find a wide array of pari-mutuel betting options.

The software at BetOnline is a lot more polished than rival sites. It also offers the fastest payouts on the market, along with Bovada and sister site SportsBetting.ag. There are a couple of weak spots – it charges fees on credit card deposits, and the welcome bonus rollover requirements are tough – but it is a strong all-round Belmont Stakes betting site.

The racecards at BetOnline are light on detail. That is the case at all racebooks that accept players from across the USA. You can find more details on the past performances of each runner at external sites and then place your Belmont wagers quickly and efficiently at BetOnline.

Choice of Belmont Stakes Bets

BetOnline has already released fixed-odds futures on the Belmont. All bets have action, so you should only bet on a horse if you are confident it will not be scratched. We found 11 different Belmont Stakes props to bet on here too, including top three finish and the favorite against the field.

Closer to the race, you can visit BetOnline to place a wide variety of pari-mutuel bets, such as the win, place, show, exacta, quinella, and trifecta. You will also be able to combine the Belmont Stakes winner with other races for a daily double, pick three, pick four, pick five or pick six, which is similar to a parlay.

Bonuses & Promos

The BetOnline promo code offers all new customers a 100% deposit match up to $1,000. That promo has a 14x rollover requirement and is only available if you use crypto when making the deposit. A 50% non-crypto sign-up bonus of up to $1,000 is available as an alternative.

BetOnline will also give you a $25 risk-free racebook wager, which you can use on the Belmont Stakes. Finally, you will get a 4% rebate on any straight losses and a 9% rebate on any exotic bet losses.

What we like:

  • Provides some of the earliest Belmont betting lines available
  • Offers very attractive fixed-odds futures on the Belmont
  • You will receive a $25 risk-free bet on the Belmont Stakes
  • Same day crypto payouts

What we don’t:

  • Deposit fees on credit cards
  • Welcome bonus has a tough rollover requirement

2. Bovada – Competitive Belmont Stakes Futures Betting Odds

Bovada Belmont Stakes

Bovada is another excellent choice for anyone interested in betting on the Belmont Stakes 2023. BetOnline and Bovada were the first two sites to release their Belmont futures this year. Bovada has the best odds on some runners, and BetOnline leads the way on other horses, so it might be worth signing up with both sites.

You will also benefit from same-day crypto payouts at Bovada. Its online racebook section is almost identical to BetOnline’s too, so there is very little to choose between them. Bovada offers fewer free bet promotions than BetOnline, but its welcome bonus can be used on horse racing, which is not the case at BetOnline, BetUS, or Xbet.

Bovada was created a decade ago as a spinoff site from Bodog. It is only available to bettors in the United States – Bodog covers the rest of the world – and it is, therefore, an excellent choice for Triple Crown betting.

Choice of Belmont Stakes Bets

Bovada has already released competitive fixed-odds futures on the 2023 Belmont Stakes. The lines will change as the race draws closer, and you can then place the full suite of pari-mutuel bets on race day. It is very quick to grade wagers and add winnings to your account balance.

Bonuses & Promos

The Bovada promo code provides new customers with a 75% deposit match sign-up bonus. If you use it on horse racing, the funds have a 5x rollover requirement. This bonus is only available to cryptocurrency depositors. You will get a 50% up to $250 deposit if you use a fiat-based method such as a credit card.

What we like:

  • Some of the best Belmont Stakes betting futures odds available
  • Very quick and reliable payments
  • Sign-up bonus can be used on horse racing
  • Clean, easy-to-navigate racebook section

What we don’t:

  • Does not offer a racebook rebate or free bets
  • Some betting sites have higher wagering limits

3. BetUS – Offers Picks and Analysis on the Belmont Stakes

Belmont Horse Racing Betting Sites - BetUS

BetUS is a popular online betting site with a dedicated racebook section. It offers fixed-odds betting on the Belmont Stakes in advance of the race and pari-mutuel betting on race day. You will also find a video previewing the Belmont Stakes with a handicapper within the BetUS TV section, which is dedicated to providing sports picks.

This is one of the best US sportsbooks for bonuses. The sign-up offers are huge, and you will also benefit from large reload bonuses. However, they are for sports betting and casino gaming, and not for horse racing. Yet there is one interesting promo for horseplayers – money back up to $10 if your horse finishes second in selected races.

BetUS offers appealing odds on some of the Belmont Stakes runners, so it is well worth checking the site out before placing your bets on the big race this year.

Choice of Belmont Stakes Bets

BetUS is not as quick as BetOnline and Bovada to release Belmont Stakes futures, but it releases lines before rivals such as Xbet. It offers all the standard racebook wagers you will find at competitor sites, including fixed-odds betting on the Belmont and pool betting as the race looms large on the horizon.

Bonuses & Promos

The BetUS promo code offers new customers a 125% deposit match bonus of up to $3,125. That includes $2,500 for the sports betting site (10x rollover requirement) and $625 for the casino (30x rollover). If you use crypto, you can receive a 200% sign-up bonus up to $2,500, but it comes with higher rollover requirements.

What we like:

  • Choice of large welcome bonuses
  • Money back specials on select races
  • Video analysis of Triple Crown races at BetUS TV
  • Best customer service in the business

What we don’t:

  • Sign-up bonuses are not for horse racing
  • Sometimes slow to update Belmont Stakes odds

4. Xbet – Beginner-Friendly Belmont Stakes Betting Site

Belmont Horse Racing Betting Sites - XBet

Xbet is an excellent Belmont Stakes betting site for beginners. The racebook section is very easy to browse, and you should have no trouble placing wagers on the race. It has an effective mobile site, and the customer service team is always on hand to help if you get stuck.

We should point out that Xbet is not as quick to release Belmont betting odds as BetOnline, Bovada, and BetUS. If you are interested in placing early futures on the race, you will need to look elsewhere. However, if you want to place pari-mutuel bets in the build-up to the race, Xbet is a great option.

Choice of Belmont Stakes Bets

You can bet on the win, the place, the show, the exacta, the trifecta, and the superfecta at Xbet. It will also allow you to create a daily double, a pick 3, or a parlay with more legs. The bet slip allows you to create boxed exactas and trifectas too.

Bonuses & Promos

You can use Xbet promo code INSIDERS to unlock a 50% sign-up bonus worth up to $500. That is available for the sportsbook only. You can claim a rebate of 3% on any win, place, or show losses on the Belmont Stakes and 7% on any exotic bet losses.

What we like:

  • Simple user experience for beginners
  • Highly-rated customer service department
  • Offers a racebook rebate
  • Provides reliable payouts

What we don’t:

  • Slow to release Belmont Stakes futures odds
  • Smaller rebate than BetOnline

5. MyBookie – Generous Rebate for Belmont Stakes Bettors

MyBookie Belmont Stakes betting

MyBookie is a sister site to Xbet. Its coverage of the Belmont Stakes is the same as Xbet’s, including the fixed odds, the pari-mutuel betting options, the wagering limits, and the rebate. It also has the same customer service, banking methods, and technology.

The bonuses are the only difference. MyBookie offers a better rebate and a larger welcome bonus, but its bonus funds come with higher rollover requirements.

Choice of Belmont Stakes Bets

MyBookie offers the same Belmont Stakes betting options as Xbet: the win, the place, the show, the exacta, the trifecta, and the superfecta, plus parlays.

Bonuses & Promos

The MyBookie promo code provides a 50% sign-up bonus with up to $1,000. It has a 10x rollover requirement.

What we like:

  • Horse rebate of up to 8%
  • The racebook section is easy to browse
  • Strong mobile horse racing betting site
  • Simple sign-up process

What we don’t:

  • Slow to publish Belmont Stakes futures
  • Higher rollover requirements than Xbet

Popular Types of Belmont Stakes Betting Markets

You can place fixed-odds bets and pari-mutuel bets on the Belmont Stakes. The wagering options fall into two distinct categories: straight bets, which are popular among all horseplayers; and exotic bets, which give you the chance to earn a huge sum from a relatively modest bet amount.

Straight Bets

A straight bet is a single wager on the Belmont Stakes. It only requires you to pick one horse. There are three types of straight bets available on the race at most betting sites:

Win Bet

This is the most common way to bet on the Belmont Stakes. As the name suggests, you simply need to predict which horse will win the race.

Most US horse races are settled on a pari-mutuel basis. That means all the money wagered goes into a pool, the industry takes a small cut and the remainder is divided up among winning bettors. You do not know how much you will win until after the race.

This line will most certainly be available on the Belmont Stakes, but this is also one of the rare races on which you will find fixed-odds futures. That means you know precisely how much you stand to win before placing your bet.

For example, if you bet $100 on Forte at +300 in the fixed-odds market, you will be paid a profit of $300 if he wins the race. You get your bet amount back if you win, so your return would be $400. A $10 bet would win $30 and return $40, a $20 bet would win $60 and return $80, and so on.

The betting odds for Belmont Stakes also tell you the implied probability of each horse winning. For example, odds of +300 imply a 25% chance of success, whereas odds of +750 imply an 11.8% chance of success.

Example: Forte to win the Belmont Stakes @ +200.

Place Bet

A place bet requires you to pick a horse that will finish either first or second. It is only available as a pari-mutuel wager. That is the case for all Belmont Stakes bets apart from the win, as you will also find fixed-odds markets on the win.

If you bet on a horse to place, it does not matter if it finishes first or second. You will get paid the same amount either way. The payout will be revealed as a dividend after the race. You get a smaller dividend on the place than on the win, as it is easier to predict the place.

Example: Angel Of Empire to place in the Belmont Stakes.

Show Bet

A show bet is a wager on a horse to finish either first, second or third. It does not matter where the horse finishes in the top three. The payout on a horse to show is smaller than the win and the place.

For example, Essential Quality – who won the 2021 Belmont Stakes  – paid $4.60 for the win, $3 for the place, and $2.60 for the show.

You can also place an across-the-board bet. It is actually three wagers – one on the win, one on the place, and another on the show. A $20 across-the-board bet, therefore, costs $60. If the horse wins, all three parts pay out. Should the horse finish second, the place and show pay out. If it ends up third, only the show pays out.

Example: Red Route One to show in the Belmont Stakes.

Exotic Wagers

Exotic wagers require you to pick more than one horse. These are the key options:

Exacta Bet

This requires you to predict the winner of the Belmont Stakes and the runner-up. You need to state the exact order in which the two horses will finish the race. That is why it is called an exacta.

The exacta payout is revealed after the race as a dividend based on a $2 stake. Back in 2021, a $2 exacta on Essential Quality and Hot Rod Charlie paid out $15 for every $2 wagered. The payout is a lot higher if you go for unpopular horses and they finish first and second.

Example: Angel Of Empire to win the Belmont Stakes and Tapit Trice to finish second in a $2 exacta.

Quinella Bet

A quinella allows you to name two horses, and they must finish first and second in any order. It is easier than the exacta, as you do not have to specify the exact order in which they will finish. However, the payout is normally smaller as a trade-off.

It is similar to a boxed exacta featuring two horses, but the payout comes from a separate pool.

Example: Angel Of Empire and Tapit Trice in a $2 Belmont Stakes quinella.

Trifecta Bet

A trifecta involves picking the first three horses to finish the Belmont Stakes. Once again, you need to state the exact order in which they will finish. It is much harder to nail a trifecta than an exacta, so you tend to receive a significantly larger payout.

You can also group several horses and place a series of trifecta within that group. That is known as a boxed trifecta or a trifecta box. Just be careful not to add too many horses, as eventually the size of the bet will be greater than the payout if one of the trifectas is successful.

Example: Angel Of Empire, Tapit Trice and Red Route One in a $0.50 Belmont Stakes betting trifecta.

Superfecta Bet

A superfecta takes it one step further. You need to predict the Belmont Stakes winner, the runner-up, the third-place horse, and the fourth-place horse, in the precise order in which they will finish. It is fiendishly difficult, so you will be rewarded with a large payout if you succeed.

There have been some huge payouts over the years. In 2002, a $2 superfecta paid $145,334.

Example: Angel Of Empire, Tapit Trice, Red Route One and Forte in a $0.50 Belmont Stakes betting superfecta.

Super Hi-Five Bet

A Belmont Stakes Super Hi-Five bet is even harder to achieve. You need to specify the first five horses to finish the race, in that precise order. It offers an even larger payout than a superfecta.

Example: Angel Of Empire, Tapit Trice, Red Route One, Forte and National Treasure in a $0.50 Belmont Stakes betting Super Hi-Five.

Claim Belmont Stakes Betting Promo & Bonus Offers

The Belmont Stakes is a very popular race, so the bookies often ramp up their promotional activity in the build-up. They need to work hard to attract new customers, so they offer welcome bonuses. They also provide their existing bettors with incentives to stay loyal.

These are the main horse racing bonuses to look out for:

Sign-Up Offer

Belmont Stakes betting sites match a percentage of your initial deposit with bonus funds. For example, Bovada matches 75% of your first crypto deposit up to $750. You then need to complete a 5x rollover requirement on the bonus funds and your deposit amount before withdrawing.

These deposit match sign-up offers are not normally available for the racebook section of an online gambling site. However, Bovada does allow you to use the bonus funds on horse racing.

Free Bets

You will often see horse racing free bets promoted at leading racebooks like BetOnline. This sportsbook/ racebook offers a $25 free bet to all customers that sign up for an account, and that’s in addition to its standard welcome bonus. You can use this free bet on the Belmont Stakes.

You have to complete a 6x rollover requirement on any winnings you might earn, which is quite tough, but it is still a free bet, so it is worth claiming.

Horse Racing Rebates

This is one of the most important bonuses that racebooks offer. It earns you a refund on a percentage of any net losses you might incur during a specified period, such as every day or every week. The rebate at online racebooks is normally paid as bonus funds, with a 1x rollover requirement.

You normally get a larger rebate on exotic bets than on straight bets. For example, BetOnline will give you a 9% rebate on exotics and 4% on straights.

2023 Belmont Stakes Betting Odds – The Favorites

Xbet and BetOnline have not yet released futures betting odds on the Belmont Stakes, but we found Belmont futures at BetNow, Bovada, BetUS and MyBookie as follows:

Horse BetNow Bovada BetUS MyBookie
Forte +150 +200 +190 +145
Tapit Trice +325 +400 +350 +400
Angel Of Empire +325 +350 +350 +300
National Treasure +550 +600 +600 +700
Hit Show +1100 +1000 +1200 +1400
Arcangelo +1300 +600 +1400 +1200
Red Route One +1500 +1600 +1700 +1600
Tapit Shoes On Request +2500 +2500 +3300
Il Miracolo +4700 +5000 +5000 +6600

These odds are liable to change as the Belmont Stakes approaches, but they were correct at the time of publishing.

Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes Runners in the Belmont

The Belmont Stakes is the third leg in the Triple Crown. It follows on from the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes. As such, they are the most important races to assess when analyzing the Belmont field.

We have the winner from Pimlico in National Treasure taking on the Kentucky Derby third, Angel Of Empire, and seventh, Tapit Trice this year. None of those horses are favorite, however, as that honor goes to Forte. A slight injury meant he had to skip Churchill Downs and the Preakness.

It’s no accident that three of the first four in the Belmont Stakes betting ran in either the Kentucky Derby or second Triple Crown race, though. Seven of the last 10 winners of this race contested the first leg at Churchill Downs. Skipping the Preakness, meanwhile, has become popular with just a short two-week turnaround from the Kentucky Derby.

In fact, the only two horses to win at both Pimlico and Belmont Park during the last decade were Triple Crown heroes American Pharoah and Justify. These aren’t the only form lines bettors must consider, but oddsmakers naturally lean towards Kentucky Derby and Preakness runners for the Belmont Stakes.

There is also a traditional, local prep race run at the track in May to consider. That is the Peter Pan Stakes – won this year by grey colt Arcangelo. Doubling up with the Belmont Stakes is rare but not impossible. Tonalist won both races back in 2014, so bettors should consider horses with winning course form.

5 Betting Tips for the Belmont Stakes 2023

Our Belmont Stakes betting tips are designed to improve your chances of success when wagering on the third leg of the Triple Crown:

belmont stakes betting tips

1. Find the Best Fixed-Odds Futures

Rival sites provide different odds on the same horses running in the Belmont. It is vital that you shop around for the best Belmont Stakes betting odds, as this will maximize your potential profits. You can sign up with a few different sites to ensure you get the best odds on each horse you like.

2. Seek Out Picks from Expert Handicappers

We recommend seeking out expert Belmont Stakes betting picks for advice on how to approach this race. You can follow a handicapper you trust, or you can take his or her advice on board and decide to fade those picks. Just make sure you conduct thorough research.

3. Claim Bonuses

Claiming bonuses allows you to bet on the Belmont Stakes with house money. The offers are designed to lure you in, so it makes sense to benefit from them.

4. Consider Place & Show Bets

The Belmont Stakes is a tough race to handicap, as it features an elite field, and many of the three-year-old runners are tired from recent exploits. Red-hot favorites may be beaten by unheralded rivals – as was the case in the Kentucky Derby – so it is sensible to cover yourself by going for a place or show bet instead.

5. Factor in the Distance

It is tempting to look at how the Derby and the Preakness unfolded when making your Belmont picks, but remember that the distance is longer for the Belmont. Look out for horses on an upward curve that have the stamina to thrive over a longer distance. For example, horses that were going strong at the end of the Derby and Preakness appeal.

Belmont Stakes Stats – The History

The Belmont Stakes was held at Jerome Park Racetrack in the Bronx for the first time in 1866. It was financed by August Belmont Sr., and the race still bears his name. A filly called Ruthless won that year.

The race moved to Morris Park Racecourse in 1890. Belmont Park Racetrack was opened in 1905, and the race moved there. These stats highlight its rise to prominence, as it has emerged as the third leg of the Triple Crown:

  • Just 13 horses have won the Triple Crown: Sir Barton (1919), Gallant Fox (1930), Omaha (1935), War Admiral (1937), Whirlaway (1941), Count Fleet (1943), Assault (1946), Citation (1948), Secretariat (1973), Seattle Slew (1977), Affirmed (1978), American Pharoah (2015), and Justify (2018).
  • The Belmont is known as “The Test of the Champion,” as it is the longest of the three Triple Crown races and the last to run each year. It is also known as  “The Run for the Carnations,” as the winner is draped in white carnations.
  • During the pandemic in 2020, the Belmont was held before the other Triple Crown races over a shorter distance than normal, so the winning time was much quicker that year.
  • The legendary Secretariat holds the record for the fastest time over 1 1/2 miles, as he finished the race in 2:24 flat back in 1973. He also had the largest margin of victory (31 lengths).
  • James G. Rowe Sr. has the most wins as a trainer with eight (1883, 1884, 1901, 1904, 1907, 1908, 1910, 1913). He is one of just two men to win the race as a jockey and trainer.
  • Jim McLaughlin and Eddie Araco share the record for most wins as a jockey, with six apiece.
  • Only 23 fillies have run in the Belmont, and just three were victorious: Ruthless in 1867, Tanya in 1905, and Rags to Riches in 2007.

Belmont Stakes Trends

Knowing historical statistics is one approach to betting on the Belmont but what about recent prevailing trends? We ask our experts to research some to help bettors like you before you wager:

  • 7 of the last 10 Belmont Stakes winners ran in the Kentucky Derby, but you’re not always looking at those who made the show.
  • Horses that finished 3rd, 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th in the big one at Churchill Downs improved to win here.
  • 3 of the last 9 Belmont Stakes winners didn’t contest either the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness Stakes, however.
  • Tapit has proven himself a very adept sire at stud for the Belmont. The stallion has produced 4 winners since 2014 and was also the grandsire of the 2020 victor.
  • Among active trainers, Todd Pletcher boasts the best recent record with 3 winners since 2013 and 4 overall in his career.

Best Belmont Stakes Betting App & Mobile Options

The best Belmont Stakes mobile apps and mobile betting sites allow you to wager on the big race in the palm of your hand. Native horse racing apps such as TVG offer live streaming of the Belmont, and they have remarkably detailed racecards.

However, you will find it much quicker and easier to place bets at mobile betting sites such as BetOnline and Bovada. They tend to have better odds on the Belmont too, and they provide much faster payouts.

Betting on the Belmont Stakes Near Me

There are off-track betting facilities and racetracks in many different states across the country. You can visit them to bet on the Belmont. For example, if you would like to bet on horse racing in Florida, you can head to one of the Sunshine State’s racetracks or an off-track betting facility.

Anyone interested in New York horse racing betting, the state in which the Belmont Stakes is held, will find off track betting on Belmont Stakes too. Alternatively, just turn on your computer or grab your phone and place a quick bet online.
