Pelicans’ Brandon Ingram is out indefinitely with a significant low left ankle sprain
At 5-20 through their first 25 games, the New Orleans Pelicans are dead last in the Western Conference. The team is 1-9 in their previous 10 games. In a 119-109 loss on Saturday night to the Thunder, starting SF Brandon Ingram suffered a significant left low ankle sprain.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Ingram is out indefinitely and there is no timetable for his return. This is yet another long-term injury the Pelicans have had to deal with early in 2024-25. Their core of Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and Dejounte Murray haven’t played a game together this season. New Orleans had been struck with the injury bug and it’s plagued their start to 2024-25. The Pelicans’ next game is Thursday night at home vs. the Kings.

Veteran SF Brandon Ingram is in his sixth season with the Pelicans and his ninth in the NBA. The 27-year-old was the second overall pick in the 2016 draft by the Lakers out of Duke. Ingram played the first three seasons of his career for Los Angeles. After the 2018-19 season, the Lakers traded Ingram to the Pelicans in exchange for Anthony Davis. Brandon Ingram has been with New Orleans ever since. He was named an all-star in his first season with the Pelicans in 2019-20.
The Pelicans have made the playoffs twice in Ingram’s six seasons with the team. In both trips to the postseason, they were bounced in the first round. Through 18 games in 2024-25, Ingram is averaging (22.2) points, (5.6) rebounds, and (5.2) assists. His points per game leads the team this season. However, the Pelicans will be without the services of Ingram moving forward. He suffered a significant left low ankle sprain on Saturday night. The veteran SF is out indefinitely and has no timetable to return. Not ideal for the Pelicans who are last place in the Western Conference.
