NBA Rumors: Knicks’ Randle, Barrett, & Others Available For Joel Embiid Trade
In the latest round of NBA rumors, the New York Knicks are willing to make Julius Randle, R.J. Barrett, Evan Fournier, and Mitchell Robinson available to the Philadelphia 76ers in a trade for Joel Embiid.
“Knicks president of basketball operations Leon Rose has made obtaining Embiid, if he becomes available, No. 1 priority, according to sources,” wrote Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
If 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey makes Embiid available, a potential trade package for the Sixers would likely include at least three of the four said players and two to three first-round picks.
Entering the 2023-24 season, NBA betting sites show the New York Knicks with 14th-shortest odds to win this season’s championship. Meanwhile, Philadelphia has seventh-best odds. Losing Embiid would be devastating.

Last offseason, New York offered Barrett, Robinson, Obi Toppin, and three unprotected first-round draft picks to the Utah Jazz for Donovan Mitchell.
However, Utah declined the offer, leading to Robinson signing a four-year, $60 million extension with the Knicks.
In September 2022, Utah traded Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Ochai Agbaji, Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, and five first-round draft picks (2025-29).
This is still relevant because the Knicks have missed out on trading for a superstar for quite some time now.
NBA Rumors: New York Knicks’ Randle, Barrett, Fournier, and Robinson available for Joel Embiid trade
Last season, Embiid joined Wilt Chamberlain (1966, 1967, 1968), Julius Erving (1981), Moses Malone (1983), and Allen Iverson (2001) as 76ers players to win the MVP award. The 7-foot center became the first Sixer to win the award since Iverson won it 22 years ago.
The two-time scoring champ is the first MVP to average 30 points and 10 rebounds per game on 50% shooting since Moses Malone in 1981-82. Embiid’s 33.1 points per game average was the highest for a center since Chamberlain’s 33.5 PPG average in 1965-66.
In addition to leading the league in points per game, Embiid also led the NBA in field goals (728) and 2-point field goals (662). The Sixers center finished second in total points (2,183), player efficiency rating (31.4), and box plus/minus (9.2) as well.
Tom Thibodeau is asked about a recent report regarding Joel Embiid and the Knicks:

If the Sixers refuse to trade Embiid, New York could still make a move to acquire Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Eastern Conference contender continues to monitor Towns’ situation.
Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau coached the three-time All-Star center with the Wolves from 2016 through 2019. Towns, 27, has spent his entire eight-year career with Minnesota. Nonetheless, the 6-foot-11 center may eventually demand a change in scenery.
Sportsbooks show Joel Embiid with fifth-shortest odds to win his second MVP award in 2024. Also, he has seventh-best odds to win his first Defensive Player of the Year award.
