Junior forward Franz Rassman scored with one second remaining in overtime to lift Loyola-Maryland to a 61-59 victory over Fairfield on Sunday evening at the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Junior guard Tyler Hubbard scored 21 points to lead Loyola (4-7), which had lost three in a row. Freshman guard Andre Walker had 14 points and nine rebounds.

Junior forward Marcus Gilbert scored 14 points to lead Fairfield (4-8). Junior forward Amadou Sidibe had 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Loyola jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the opening minutes, but Fairfield mounted a 10-2 run to take a 12-9 lead on a 3-pointer by Gilbert with 11:43 to play in the opening period.

The Greyhounds regained the lead moments later and maintained a slight advantage until junior forward Mike Kirkland Jr. tied the game with a free throw and senior guard Steve Johnston made a 3-pointer to put the Stags up 18-15.

Fairfield scored the last five points of the half to take a 29-23 lead at the break. The Greyhounds trailed despite shooting 47.4 percent from the field while holding the Stags to 36-percent shooting.

Loyola cut the deficit to two on a three-point play by Walker with 17:33 to play. Fairfield retained the lead before Hubbard made a 3-pointer to put the Greyhounds up 45-44 with 7:22 to go.

The teams exchanged leads several times over the last seven minutes. Fairfield went up 55-53 on two free throws by Gilbert with 1:30 remaining, but a layup by junior guard Eric Laster tied the game with 1:16 to go.

The Greyhounds had a chance to win in regulation, but Walker missed two jumpers in the last five seconds.

The game was tied at 59-59 when Rassman made a layup with one second remaining.
