St. John’s 74, Fairleigh Dickinson 52

Senior guard D’Angelo Harrison scored 26 points to lead 24th-ranked St. John’s to a 74-52 victory over visiting Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday night at Carnesecca Arena in New York.

Harrison led four players who scored in double figures for St. John’s (7-1).

Senior guards Phil Greene IV scored 16 points for the Red Storm. Senior guard Sir’Dominic Pointer scored 12 points, and junior forward Chris Obekpa added 10 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots.

Senior guard Mustafaa Jones scored 18 points for Fairleigh Dickinson (3-5). Junior forward Xavier Harris scored 13 points.

Fairleigh Dickinson trailed by two after Harris made a jumper with 15:01 to play in the opening half, but St. John’s mounted 5-0 and 6-0 runs to take a 19-10 lead midway through the period. The Knights reduced the deficit to four on a 3-pointer by Jones, but they were outscored 17-7 over the final 6:19 before halftime.

St. John’s led 39-25 at the break.

Fairleigh Dickinson its deficit to 10 early in the second half. The Knights trailed by 11 after sophomore guard Matt MacDonald made a 3-pointer with 10:58 to play, but they were unable to cut the deficit to single digits before the Red Storm pulled away with a 13-2 run.

The Red Storm shot 56.9 percent from the field while holding the Knights to 37.3 percent shooting.
