NBA Draft
NBA Draft Diary: Lamar Patterson Pt. 3
Hello,
It’s been three weeks since my last entry. I apologize to those who have been looking for this next entry. This will probably be my last one being that the NBA draft is two days from now, which is very exciting. Over these past three weeks, I’ve had quite a journey.ย I’m on my four-hour flight to Atlanta right now.
My last workout I updated y’all with was Cleveland. I’ve had seven workouts since then. I worked out for the Hawks, Wizards, HEAT, Timberwolves, Mavericks, Pacers and Clippers. I don’t know if y’all caught on to me saying that I’m on my way to Atlanta… meaning that this will be my second workout for the Hawks, which in my view is always a good sign.
Then, right after my workout with them, I’m heading back to Charlotte for my second workout with the Hornets. So, this process has been treating me well and I close it out on the 25th with the Knicks before I head home and kick back with my family and let God and the GMs do their work. The Suns were another team that wanted me back for a second workout, but unfortunately there were scheduling conflicts. I’ve also heard a lot of great feedback from all of the 17 teams I worked out with.
My six-year-old, Zaiden, is getting tired of the process. He told me the other day, “Dad, just come home.” And my now five-month-old, Elijah, gives me the look like, “Dad, where are you at? My mom is driving my crazy!” FaceTime is a lifesaver, I tell you. It keeps me from getting too homesick. This process is a marathon and you have to be mentally prepared just as much as physically.
On draft day, my plans are simple. I’m going to have close friends and family come hang and watch it with me. My brother from Switzerland is coming to watch it with me along with my oldest brother, who is currently in Lancaster, PA. I can’t think of the last time we were all together so regardless of what happens on draft day I’m going to have my family with me and it will be special no matter what.
I want to thank everyone for their support. To continue following my journey, you can check out my website www.lamarpattersonnba.com.
Signed your next favorite NBA player (hopefully),
